Abstract

The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought huge impact on Chinese economy and society, including the development of the country’s logistics industry. This paper focuses on analyzing whether the China Logistics Prosperity Index (LPI) has a relationship with COVID-19 cases and cumulative vaccination rate respectively. Correlation tests are conducted in IBM SPSS Statistics 23 to analyze the relationship between the COVID-19 monthly new cases in China and LPI, the monthly additional vaccination doses per 100 people in China and LPI. All related data from January 2020 to November 2021 are collected from Chinese government and organization’s official websites. This paper finds that there is a strong negative relationship between the COVID-19 monthly new cases and LPI (r=-0.935, p=0.000), while the monthly additional vaccination doses per 100 people and LPI has no correlation relationship (r=-0.612, p=0.080). However, there is a strong positive relationship between the COVID-19 monthly new cases and the vaccination does per 100 people (r=0.872, p=0.002). The evidence suggests that COVID-19 has a significant impact on China’s logistics industry. Although vaccination plays a positive role in preventing from COVID-19, further researches are needed to be conducted to prove if the vaccination rate has a relationship with the development of the Chinese logistics industry.
